Trees are budding, flowers are blooming, and Spring has sprung. Two days ago it was seventy degrees in St. Louis. Today we are expecting snow. This painting reminds us of what we are leaving behind, and that summer is coming.

This piece was an experiment when I began using Copic markers. Cartooning holds a special place in my heart, and I’ve always thought this would be a great place to write that bestseller.
European Town
While in the military I spent two years stationed outside Stuttgart Germany, where I was given the opportunity to spend my weekends as a tourist. One of the first things I did was buy a cheap car, of which turned out to be the first of many. My friends and I did a lot of touristing. We created memories impossible to forget.
I have walked or driven through a number of arches such as the one depicted in this ink and colored pencil drawing.
My guess is most of these charming little towns are timeless, and look very similar today.
Cat Stalking Flowers (Reversed)
There is black, and there is white. Many times there are shades of gray. This is not one of those instances. Sometimes it’s better to simplify life and think in polar opposites.
Does it really matter if it’s a black cat, or a white one. Maybe, in an alternate universe, this version is the original.

Today’s post is from my children’s collection. I’m no longer sure where the idea came from, but it makes sense that elephants would make perfect bookends. The only trouble is, the shelf would have to be really-really strong.

Cat Stalking Flowers
Welcome to Spring
Have you ever watched a cat as it stalks its prey. My sister and brother-in-law have a cat that brings its catch inside and drops it at their feet as a tribute. Usually the poor creature is still alive, requiring a catch and release that would fit perfectly into the script of any TV comedy.
This was created using cut paper, ink, and markers.
Fairy Tale Castle
For a while, I had an ETSY store in an attempt to sell prints of my work. The effort was only partially successful. This was one of my early pieces in my line of Kid’s Room Art, where I thought it was possible to catch both kids attention and their parents. To this day I am still learning how to market my products. (Ink and Markers)
The End is Near
I am writing the final chapter of Al Clark-Earth (Book Four), which brings me great joy. Finally, the truth about Al’s origins will be revealed. Soon, I will begin the editing process, which I find both arduous and fulfilling. As soon as I write ‘The End’ on the first draft, I will arrange for the cover to be created. This is the point where writing becomes fun.
