I have crafted a frame for one of my daughter’s paintings. She painted this especially for me, so I want to provide a respectable frame for display.
It’s a simple frame I created from inexpensive cove molding and 3/4″ X 3/4″ trim from good-old Home Depot.
My dilemma is how to finish the frame. I have three options. Which one do you believe will accent the painting to it’s fullest potential?
- Paint the frame to match the white Gesso of the painting?
- Paint the frame a color to compliment the colors in the painting?
- Stain the frame (Dark or Light)?
Any input is appreciated. I’ve never been good with matching frames to the work.
